Dancing the Parenting: Winter Schedule

Registrations for our Dancing the Parenting classes are still open!

This program welcomes families who would like to try relationship based creative dance with their children. This Reggio Emilia inspired dance class includes playful and creative exploration of developmental movement patterning and engages parents into their own dancing just as much as the children. Julie Lebel graduated with a B.F.A. in Dance and is a choreographer specialized in community engaged arts.

For the 0 to 8 years old children and their parent/caregiver – This wide age range aims at integrating older siblings and offer people of all ages opportunities to connect through dance. This class will also integrate drawing on some days.
Sundays, Feb. 14 to Mar 13 10am to 10:45am

FREE WORKSHOP:  We will host a free workshop at Trout Lake Community Centre’s Family Day event on Mon, February 8, from 11:40am – 12:00pm in the elm room – the upstairs martial arts room.Come with comfortable clothes to move, long pants/leggings that cover the knees are strongly recommended both for parents and children. Dancing barefoot is best for the dance floor surface.

Hello Hello at Pop Up Dances!

Hello Hello is a short form choreography presented in unusual setting. Hello Hello playfully transforms a group of timid characters into bolder and connected people. Original choreography by Julie Lebel, performed by Sarah Ballard Gallos, Meredith Kalaman, Iwona Gilarska and Julie Lebel and the collaboration of Miriam Colvin. Presented by New Performance Works Society.

Saturday & Sunday, February 20 & 21

Findings / Trouvailles

The Roundhouse Dancers, facilitated by Julie Lebel with the support of dramaturge and theatre artist Sarah Dixon and musicians Alex Mah and Ben Brown present a short form performance involving shadow work to close 3 years of residency. The performance will be presented 2 times during the evening in the dance studio of the Roundhouse, at 7pm and 8pm on April 2, 2016. All welcome. IMGP0960
