Stroller Dance Short Films Premiere in Vancouver!

Choreographer and film maker Julie Lebel is premiering her two short films featuring parents dancing with their babies in a stroller. You are invited to come on Sunday September 29 at 11:30am at Creekside Community and Recreation Centre (#1 Athletes Way, Vancouver) in the multipurpose room 4 to watch the films and share snacks. A drawing station for children and a set of mats for babies will be installed.

The Stroller Dance Flash Mob Document was produced in 2011 with Josh Hite as director of photography and editing. The film documents the flash mob performed in March 2011, a culmination of a  five month community dance process at Creekside Community Recreation Centre  and sponsored by the City of Vancouver. The film features the participants and their babies as well as Yi Zhang playing the accordion.

Avec toi (With You) is a short dance film with original music by Scott Thomson and played by the Woodshed Orchestra. The film features mothers dancing with their baby in a stroller. Filmed in the remote town of Sept-Iles, in Québec, the film shows families dancing their way through town and assembling on the “Vieux Quai”, (the old warf) for a communal dance by the water, on beautiful summer day. With You is a short film in HD produced in Sept-Iles in 2012-2013 with Gabriel Rochette as director of photography and editing. This film was made possible with the support of le Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec Télé-Québec Côte-Nord, COGECO Cable Sept-Îles, L’Envol maison de la famille, la Ville de Sept-Iles, la Salle de Spectacle Jean-Marc Dion and Optik 360.
