CONNECT is a work-in-progress, a first draft of a dance work to be completed and performed as part of the Heart of the City festival in 2013. This performance is part of an on-going series of dance workshops offered by Karen Jamieson Dance in partnership with Carnegie Community Centre and SFU’s Vancity Office of Community Engagement.

Performers are residents of Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside: people of a wide range of cultures, ages, abilities and talents. Joined by Karen Jamieson and 4 professional contemporary dancers…

Dancng the Parenting Workshop and Presentation

On Sept 15 2012, as part of the Dance Centre’s Open House and Made in BC Breaking New Ground forum Community Engagement edition, Julie Lebel and the members of the Foolish Operations Ensemble hosted a workshop and presentation titled Dancing the Parenting. Thanks to  Made in BC and the Dance Centre for this opportunity. Fathers, mothers and children danced together, exploring animal/physical pathways warm up and tried a Round Robyn improvisation. Thank you Shane Krause and Rachael Wadham for the music and providing music instruments for children to play with. Thank you Belle Ancell for the photos below.
