Lower Left Collective

The work of Lower Left Collective is very close to my heart and foundational in all my work as a dance artist. For the last … 15yrs??? I have studied with Nina Martin and members of the Lower Left to deepen my understanding of Ensemble Thinking, a practice of group improvisation and collaboration. I was asked by the collective members to be one of the first artists part of their certification program. I completed that process a year ago now, in July 2019. While in Marfa, Texas, in July 2019, they invited me to join the collective. When the pandemic started, we decided to start meeting weekly to move and discuss dance in these strange times. It has been an invaluable time.

The collective includes: Nina Martin (TX), Margaret Paek (WI), Shelley Senter (NY), Andrew Wass (Berlin), Kelly Dalrymple-Wass (Berlin), Karen Høybakk Mikalsen (Oslo), Leslie Skates (TX), and I. Many artists have been part of this amazing collective over the years. See https://www.lowerleft.org/ for more info, which needs some updating, that I need to do 🙂
